Weekend Live Blog: 8/30 feat. #GlobeSlipstream

UPDATE:

I was already watching the concert when some of my friends who were at the VIP area invited me for some drinks. Autotelic was awesome but this momma can’t say no to cocktails. I’m too weak!

The night was so lovely and special!

Cheers to Marlon Stockinger and F1! Cheers to a faster Globe Telecom!

***

4:35pm

I got to meet Marlon Stockinger a few minutes back and gad I can even smell him – I assure you he didn’t smell of burnt rubber even after racing. He’s so cute, too! And young? I didn’t know he’s just 23! To be young and famous nga naman, I hope he gets in F1 to represent the country.

Up next: Up Dharma Down will be playing alongside other bands at the Bonifacio High Street Central!

***

So I am here at #GlobeSlipstream here at the Bonifacio Global City. Marlon Stockinger just finished running his first exhibition and will be up against his old friends including Mateo Guidicelli for some friendly competition. Meanwhile, I took a break because the heat is getting to me and jeez I’m sweating like a bacon on the skillet (haha see photo below as well)

FYI still no near sighting of Stockinger but I hope to get to that (don’t be lazy self he’s hot)

Also, thanks Globe for inviting me!

[EVENT + Video of the Day] Digital Lifestyle Expo

I can’t think of one day that I wouldn’t even tinker with my phone. For me, this mobile and digital lifestyle has given me access to information, not to mention a job! This digital revolution has turned everyone into a digital humankind, tinkering with gadgets one callous thumb at a time (now that I’ve thought of it, it sounds scary haha)

The habit is – Twitter, email, Viber, and then check some Yummly for dinner or if I’m tired or I just want to go out — Zomato it is. Of course, Spotify all day and maybe Flipboard for the latest or Pocket for some easy reads. The list doesn’t end there as I have over 50 apps on my phone! You see, it’s like 50% of my life is now app-and-phone-dependent (no kidding).

And it just never ends.

Blog

So if you’re like me who lives the digital life (you know you do), then let’s go to the Digital Lifestyle Expo at the Mega Fashion Hall (omg I live so near!) Lots of emerging technologies – gadgets, apps, and a whole lot more. Find more details after the jump!

Saturdays: Football and Social Media for Social Good

10286756_870139136334151_5548642246018796537_o

I have my weekend pretty free and (even if still at work) I’m thinking what to do or where to go this lovely Saturday morning. Good thing, there’s the Adobo Cup where some of my friends from some agencies (Hello Patty [and Dom and Clarence but are in HK!]) and Globe will play! They’re prolly at the field now at the Gatorade – Chelsea FC Blue Pitch in Circuit Makati to stretch and get their game on already (and me still typing away and talking to clients. Meh.) I can’t get enough of World Cup 2014, so this is a pretty good fuel to the fire!

Football has gained traction in the country over the years and it’s good ’cause it’s helping communities as well — think of it like basketball in the 90’s. “We want to capitalize on the sport of football as an intervention tool for children in underserved communities. Sports is a way to develop the children’s well-being and may also open doors for them to a better life,” said Fernando Esguerra, Globe OIC for Corporate Social Responsibility. Globe invests on these communities by means of football, as spearheaded by Azkals Team Captain and Globe Ambassador Chieffy Caligdong.

Now only if I have been sporty myself. I just fancy watching so might as well support it!

P.S. I don’t get basketball and boxing though. Can we focus on football instead? HAHA!

ALL I WANT IS SOME COCK FOR MYSELF

Dirty, eh?

But what I am talking about is the theatrical play from London! COCK is a hit in London before it came to Broadway and finally here in Manila! It’s a story of a gay guy falling in love with a woman. Simple plot with four characters – with a lot of conflict.

How many of these occur really? How fluid is a person’s gender? And to what extent will you tolerate if your lover both has a man and a woman in his life? Is it just about sex? Are humans all about carnal desires? Or we’re just flexible like that?

Add this to my wishlist, I want to see this!

Art in the Park 2014

1794821_707972432557018_1349714212_n

I sometimes catch myself fantasizing about the art bazaars in the streets and markets of Paris and New York and actually the whole of Europe. Now we don’t need to go out of the country for art and maybe some weekend market finds and lunch!

See you there!

Halloween is here!!! LET’S PARTY

So I’m in town for Halloween! For most years, I’m almost always out of town every Halloween. These are times I’d rather be away and more of contemplating. It’s like Holy Week for me, not in a blasphemous way. So if I’m in town, better yet make the most out of it, right? I’m planning to go to two parties with my friends, and thought I’d share —

And I believe there’s a lot of ganap in the city, but if you’re goin’ to Aracama and Future, hope I see you there. Tweet me if you wanna and let’s get this party happening!

University Feud: The UAAP Cheerdance Competition

If you ever studied in a UAAP school, you’d understand that there are only two competitions to watch out for — the men’s basketball finals and the prestigious UAAP Cheerdance Competition. UAAP CDC is that important that last Sunday, we decided to hold our annual CDC viewing party at Moonleaf!

This year, everyone was in the proverbial wheel – with the Top 3 on the losing side and a new gamechanger entered —

It was hard to accept, Moonleaf Maginhawa was never as quiet as it was last Sunday. But – congratulations to the NU PEP SQUAD for winning their first cheerdance competition title! It was a truly amazing routine!

As to my alma mater, let’s go Tams for next year!

Can’t wait for this!! ALSO: Moonleaf will have a booth there. See you there 🙂

#NDFYLive

480930_206104659536663_98812621_n

It’s our independence day in no time, and what better month to appreciate local artists, right? Introducing NDFY.me, a collective of music aficionados promoting the Philippine local indie scene through the world wide web.

Our usual spiel: NDFY.me, more than a website, is a movement. Apart from providing independent OPM artists a portal to share and sell their music, we will also offer them lessons on how to professionalize their recording, for example, mentorship programs with established independent OPM artists to guide them in their career, plus other technological tools that will support them in their career. – NDFY.me

I share their passion and belief in the local artist industry, but what interests me is their system. The aim of NDFY.me is for independent OPM artists to go local first, as the primary target market of the website are Filipinos, NDFY said in the website. It may be not completely free and a commercial platform, but it is with cause. We believe that, before an artist can conquer the world stage, support from fellow Filipinos should already be established, in order to make their penetration and status consistent in the international scene.

And as they launch their website in a two-stage concert called MaharLikha at B-Side this June 11, everyone’s invited to join them as we all celebrate Philippine independence and independent Filipino music. P200 gets you to see and hear 24 artists with a free beer to boot!

At the onset of our idea generation, we’ve always wanted this to be a cultural movement to spark another deluge of OPM artists, similar to what we experienced during the 90’s. And being a movement, I wanted a name that connotes a dynamic process. I wanted a brand name that sounds like, and can be used as a verb.

Go forth, indiefy. And support LOCAL!
