I kinda took it slow this last weekend and just went out with friends. I was just out from work as usual and I went out to breakfast with Nica and Hannah. Then off drinking with officemates (no, it is not too early.) And that was it! (LOL I am so lacking pictures, but there were interesting happenings last weekend :P)
But I think the highlight of my weekend is the UAAP Cheerdance Competition (CDC)! Every year, it becomes the biggest UAAP event with students from all 8 schools gather to cheer their lungs out for the coveted gold medal. It was this time of the year as well that we used to hold viewing parties back in Maginhawa at Moonleaf Tea Shop. They still do, but I’m not there anymore. Awww I miss those days!
Anyway, Hanna and I (and her mom and dad) huddled up at their place and watched the competition on TV. I’ve only seen the CDC live twice when I was in college and nothing beats that but I am now old (lol, no) and I really have no patience to queue up for tickets so the TV will be fine for us. Anyway, I took it to Twitter to comment on each performance. It was hilarious how people kept on throwing really funny commentaries on each school’s performances. I hope those who are following me had fun tweeting with me, too!
Woooo my alma mater won the championship for group stunts and 4th for the main competition! Congrats, Tamaraws and I bet you can do better next year!
This year’s favorite is UP’s take on EQUALITY. From rainbow flags, pompoms, braided guys to tossing guys (like big boned guys ha) up in the air and putting them up in pyramids, as my friends would say – UP has put the issue on national stage. Pantay pantay!
The famed UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe had their comeback in the Top Three after 3 years. Congrats, Tigers!
Okay, usually I just comment on the top three. BUT them sailor boys, daaaaaamn.
I wanna forget that the lightsaber has been desecrated.
And coming back this year for a back-to-back championship, NU has claimed the crown for another year. Two things though: One – Mohican theme, last nyo na yan ha. I know we’re not in America but in other parts of the globe, wearing Red Indian headgear and face paint is considered offensive. Two – I really really really hope NU students didn’t tear the EQUALITY flag apart as what was being talked about on Twitter.
Anyway, enough of that. I really wanna try to write about my weekend diaries earlier. LOL I wish I have the strength but nevertheless I will try.
This weekend, anyhow, I’ll be joining my friends Kristian, Mersi, and Kim at Crystal Beach Resort as they turn the place upside down with their music —
I’m so excited for this weekend – the sand, the sea, (not really thrilled about the sun) the beer, and the boys!
I like writing about my weekends, though. It makes it seem that the week is shorter and the next time we know it's almost Friday. TGIAF!
